World Sound Healing Day - February 14, 2009 http://worldpeacegardens.org/blog/2009/01/29/world-sound-healing-day-february-14-2009/ http://worldpeacegardens.org/blog/2009/01/29/world-sound-healing-day-february-14-2009/#comments Fri, 30 Jan 2009 05:19:37 +0000 Administrator http://worldpeacegardens.org/blog/?p=660 Dear Sound Friends:

The 7th Annual World Sound Healing Day is just about a month away-February 14, 2009. As always, the main World Sound Healing Day event will be at noon Eastern Time, though events will be happening throughout the day. We’ll be sending more focused information about this soon. For more immediate information on World Sound Day, please go to this link: World Sound Healing Day.

Last year, we established Temple of Sacred Sound in order to assist in maximizing the enhancement of this power day when people throughout the planet sound an intentionalized “AH” for global peace and harmony.

This year, we’re looking to the Healing Sounds Blog to assist us as well. We’ve always received such extraordinary feedback from you with regard to your participation in World Sound Healing Day. Now’s an opportunity to post this feedback on our new Blog.

I’d like to invite anyone and everyone who is planning to tone along with us on Feb. 14th, and particularly those who may be organizing an event around this day to let us know via the Healing Sounds Blog. Let us know your thoughts, ideas and activities. Share ways to expand this important event and make it even more potent. And let the rest of the world know about it too. Through this kind of activity we can truly create a global sound community-manifesting a celestial choir that rings in harmony and peace throughout the planet.

Thank you so much for your support and for your participation in this important new resource for exchanging ideas.

Blessings of Light & Love through Sound!

Jonathan Goldman

S H A R I N G
World Peace Gatherings are about sharing your heart, your struggles, triumphs, your fears, your love. Your very presence is a gift to all of us…thank you for sharing. ~Winter 2009~

DID YOU KNOW?……the idea for World Peace Gardens was born on November 11th, 2007 (11/11/07) and that the organization received its non profit status in “record time” from the US Government in March, 2008? One night over dinner a gentleman who heard about the idea of World Peace Gardens and on the spot, gave $25,000.00 to “get the ball rolling”…our story has begun and you are part of this ongoing, unfolding story of creating world peace because you are here today!

LET’S CELEBRATE!
Sunday Gatherings are an important facet to creating together new levels of community focused on inner peace, oneness and world peace. After all “it takes a village”. Indeed it takes all of us to work, share and celebrate together on a regular basis. So let’s gather at 11AM every Sunday, rain or shine at the Green Valley Spa!

FESTIVALS!
There are two new festivals “in the works”. A spring festival will be The Zion Flute & Drum Festival, Celebrating the Rhythms of Mother Earth, May 15th-17th, 2009. The fall festival is called Peace by Peace, Celebrating Artists Celebrating Peace, to be scheduled sometime in early November.

To volunteer or participate in either of these events or other World Peace Gardens activities please contact us at: Events@WorldPeaceGardens.org Both festivals are fundraising events for World Peace Gardens. For more info, visit www.WorldPeaceGardens.org/festivals.

SOMEDAY…
Let’s create a World Peace Gardens, outdoor sanctuary dedicated to world peace in our area. Through land donations, volunteerism, any kind of support, just “spreading the word” can help create support for change through people creating community around peace, love and oneness. Kyle Kamalu is our donations manager, is now working on a Donations & Volunteer packet which will be on our web site. World Peace Gardens is a 501 (c)(3) organization so all donations are tax deductible. For more information check out our web site at: www.WorldPeaceGardens.org/donations or contact Kyle at (435) 632-4622 or kamalukyle@gmail.com.

GRASS ROOTS…
community is the birthplace of change and world peace. Creating change in our world begins within your own heart and in your own back yard. For example putting together a block party for your neighborhood and calling it a “Peace Block Party”, you could have a “Peace Parade” with “Peace Punch & Cookies”. It’s a great way to build neighbor friendships and cooperation around oneness and peace. Or how about a “World Peace Community Garden”, growing herbs, fruits and veggies or creating a native plant garden to help inform people about the natural world. There are many great ways to “share the love” and bring people together through the healing and nurturing activities of working with the earth. For world peace to really happen, it needs to be an ongoing choice within each of us and through interaction with others around the message of oneness and world peace… one back yard, one neighborhood, one garden at a time.

SPEAKING OF NEIGHBORHOODS…
World Peace Gatherings are “sprouting” in other locations at this time. A Gatherings Packet/Manual is being created to help others start World Peace Gatherings in their area. This packet of information will eventually be on our web site as a PDF file and available for free to anyone, anywhere on the planet through the World Wide Web! A few of the places where people are getting more involved in the process of creating world peace within their communities are Virgin, Utah, Phoenix , AZ, Moab , UT, Truchas, NM and Oslo, Norway.

LET’S COMMUNICATE!
To keep you informed about all our gatherings, events and activities just add your name and information to our email list, we’ll put you in our database and we don’t give/or sell your information. Email us at: Info@WorldPeaceGardens.org.

THANK YOU!
We could thank so many people for helping get World Peace Gatherings “off the ground” but we really want to say a HUGE “thank you!” to Green Valley Spa for generously donating their beautiful facilities for the World Peace Gatherings. Thank you so much Alan & Carole Coombs and Mike Rice for creating such a wonderful place and sharing it with all of us! For more information on Green Valley Spa, check out their amazing web site at: www.GreenValleySpa.com.

BTW: Carole recommends these books:

And remember World Peace Gardens folks get a 10% discount on all books & merchandise at the Green Valley Bookstore! AND a shout out to Xetava Gardens Café of Ivins/Kayenta for donating your organic coffees for our Meet & Greet at our Sunday Gatherings! www.Xetava.com

World Peace Gatherings Beginning in January 2009 http://worldpeacegardens.org/blog/2008/12/27/world-peace-gatherings-beginning-in-january-2009/ http://worldpeacegardens.org/blog/2008/12/27/world-peace-gatherings-beginning-in-january-2009/#comments Sun, 28 Dec 2008 04:06:11 +0000 Administrator http://worldpeacegardens.org/blog/?p=632

For the first time in southwestern Utah , a group of people focused on world peace, inner peace and oneness will begin gathering on weekly basis in the St. George area.

World Peace Gardens , is a locally inspired, non profit organization focused on creating world peace at the grass roots level. “The focus on world peace must be an ongoing practice and lifestyle, not just a once in a while thing, or when war breaks out. Like preventative medicine, we must become proactively involved in the process of creating world peace, starting within our hearts and where we live.” Says Daniel Pettegrew, the founder of the organization.

Pettegrew along with a growing group of others are now developing the first of weekly, non sectarian Sunday gatherings which will include discussions and speakers from all walks of life, drumming, flute playing and other kinds of music and vocalists, dance, poetry, art and more. The Sunday gatherings will also include a “Meet & Greet” time for getting to know each other and making new friends as well as a World Peace and Visioning Circle for sharing stories and visioning world peace as a group.

World Peace Gatherings which will be held every Sunday, starting on January 11th 2009 at 11AM. Gatherings will be held at Green Valley Spa which is located at 1871 Canyon View Dr., St George, UT 84770 There is no charge for attending World Peace Gatherings.

The little tomatoes from Daniel's garden... One by one ripening.

The little tomatoes from Daniel's garden... One by one ripening.

Today I took this image of some cherry tomatoes I plucked from a plant growing in my back yard just a few days ago. Imagine vine-ripened, organic tomatoes growing in your yard until December! (In southwestern Utah, near St George). I have found that plucking them off the vine the day before the first hard frost occurs (I watch the weather forecast for night-time temps approaching 30 to 32 degrees). I bring the lil’ green babies into the house and place them in a bowl on the counter. One by one, as they ripen and turn red, I enjoy them often into February, when it’s almost time to start my little desert garden again.

“It is truly amazing how much nature will provide, if we take just a little initiative, learn and open to her bounty. Imagine if we all grew just a few food items in our backyard (herbs, tomatoes, squash, beans, etc.). Sometimes they even grow on their own like the plant that produced these ones in regular ol’ red, sandy dirt, next to a big pot in my backyard. The plants tap into the water from the drip system lines, which use very little water. And this one plant produced more than 150 cherry tomatoes!

World Peace Gardens, is donating more than 100 desert willow trees (Chilopsis linearis) to residents of southwestern Utah. Desert Willows are also known as Desert Orchids because of their beautiful, pink and purple abundant blooms that look like small orchids.

These trees are popular with hummingbirds and grow easily in the desert heat providing shade and shelter for desert homes and gardens.

Weekly Gatherings Coming January 2009! http://worldpeacegardens.org/blog/2008/10/10/weekly-gatherings-coming-soon/ http://worldpeacegardens.org/blog/2008/10/10/weekly-gatherings-coming-soon/#comments Fri, 10 Oct 2008 22:30:27 +0000 Administrator http://worldpeacegardens.org/blog/?p=480

We are now in the process of organizing weekly Sunday afternoon gatherings, which will begin in January 2009. These gatherings will focus on visioning world peace as well as discussing and celebrating world peace through a variety of activities, speakers, artists, musicians and other uplifting forms of support for personal and community transformation.

Most gatherings will be held outdoors to help us connect with the natural world. During inclement weather, gatherings will be indoors at homes and other locations, which will help develop community participation.

A “Gatherings Calendar” will soon be created, listing upcoming gatherings, themes, speakers, locations and times. If you are interested in becoming a part of our gatherings, please feel free to contact us. We’d love to hear from you!
